Alvaro Laguna

The first time Alvaro practiced Yoga was in May of 2001. It was not long before he was completely hooked.  Wanting to explore Yoga more deeply, he started attending workshops with teachers such as Bryan Kest, Seane Corn, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Vinnie Marino, and Erich Schiffman.

In 2002, Alvaro began studying Anusara Yoga with Ulla Lundgren and was drawn to its emphasis on physical alignment, connection to heart, and philosophy. He completed a Level 1 Teacher Training Program with Baron Baptiste in spring of 2004.  A few years later, he completed a year-long teacher training program with Naime Jezzeny and Noah Maze.

Alvaro believes “Yoga reminds us of who we are. It shows us glimpses of our beauty, our courage and conviction and supports the pathway of creating what we see in our own hearts. It also shows us that we are part of a much greater energy.  Bind to what you see as distinctly your own, work to bring your desires to light, yet realize you are part of a system that is much larger than you know.  When we recognize our own divinity, the divinity in other people and everything around us becomes more apparent.”

Alvaro would like to offer thanks to his most influential teachers, Darren Rhodes, Noah Maze, Naime Jezzeny, Christina Sell and Douglas Brooks.
